About Thelwall Choir

Tcc logo

Who are we?

We are a newly-formed choir with 70 members, both ladies and gents, who meet each week to sing, smile and socialise.

Our choir is a fun activity - no need to read music or have any previous experience,  but we attempt to do nice simple arrangements in three groups (Soprano, Alto and Baritone).

We do mainly popular music most people know (e.g. Beatles, 60s, 70s, 80s), some classic songs, and some carol singing at Christmas.

Where and when?

We are based in Thelwall, near Warrington, Cheshire.

We rehearse at the Holyrood Nursery building (formerly the Quays  Community Centre), Thelwall New Road.  WA4 2XT.

Why not join us?  Don't be shy - everyone can sing (YES YOU CAN!)

Our Spring concert 2026 - press release

Thelwall Community Choir rounded off only their seventh month since formation with a Spring Concert at Grappenhall and Thelwall Royal British Legion on Friday 27th March.  The 70 strong choir who came together last September sang a variety of songs ranging from classic pop to swing to show songs.  Led by Musical Director Graham Skelland, this group of singers, many still new to performing, impressed their audience with their wonderful sound, wide range of material, and their infectious enthusiasm.  The concert was completely sold out and the audience were sent home smiling and singing.

Also on the bill were Post Haste, a local folk group who provided traditional songs, brilliantly played, for the audience to clap along to. And making their debut were the Men's Sheds Shanty singers who delighted the audience with their rousing vocals.  The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and through the ticket sales and a huge raffle, an unbelievable £1595 was raised for Papyrus - prevention of young suicide.  Based in Warrington, this charity provides support, advice and an essential helpline in their mission to make suicide preventable.

The choir has quickly become an important part of the community of Thelwall and, along with their guests, showed how music can bring people together, to perform and listen, and to contribute to the well-being of all involved.
